Some but not all health insurance companies may require modifier codes in addition to CPT codes.
If the insurance company requires modifier, you have 2 options on how to enter modifiers on TheraPlatform:
- With the first option, you add a separate service with a modifier
- with the second option you add your regular service and add the modifier manually on the calendar.
1st option- Add a separate service that would include the modifier and here are steps:
- Click on Settings<Billing-<Services-<Add Service.
- At the pop up box, enter the title of the service and mark it somehow to remember that this service contains modifier, e.g. Therapy (Telehealth Modifier 95)
- Then enter the $ amount, etc.
- Under Code field, enter CPT code.
- Under Modifier filed, enter the modifier, e.g. 95
- Save changes.
Then when you schedule on the calendar for a client that needs to have a modifier, you would select this service with a modifier when scheduling under Service field. This way the modifier will show on superbills and claims.
2nd option- is to have the regular service (e.g. therapy) with no modifier under Settings and Billing and then editing the meeting on the calendar to include the modifier. Here are the steps:
- Find the meeting on the calendar and click on it.
- The pop-up box will pull, click on the blue icon of of the pen.
- The pop up box will pull where you can add the modifier.
Note: You will not see the icon of the pen if the invoice was already created so to use this function, you would need to click on the blue icon of the pen before creating an invoice.
